Oasis For Girls (a
project of the Tides Center), located in San Francisco's South of
Market neighborhood, is a center for girls and young women ages
11– 24. We aim to fulfill the life cycle of a girl from middle
school, through high school and slightly beyond – through interdisciplinary
programming that builds on each step of the way through a girl's
development. We've prioritized our programming and services to reflect
this; some of our programs are offered to specific age groups, while
others are open to all girls to build on our mentorship model. Opportunities
for growth exist through our Arts and Arts Education, Leadership
Development and Life Skills Education programs.

Our hours are:
School Year: Mon-Fri 3 - 6:30 pm
Summer and Spring Break: Mon-Fri 1 - 6
pm
Vision Statement : The vision of Oasis for Girls is to cultivate generations of strong and creative women who realize their potential, live healthy lives and make a positive impact in their communities
Mission Statement : The mission of Oasis for Girls
is to provide a safe space where girls and young women are inspired
and empowered to become strong and creative leaders in their communities.
Oasis for Girls provides culturally relevant and gender specific
Arts and Arts Education, Leadership Development, and Life Skills
Education programs that support the growth of low-income and immigrant
girls and young women of color in urban communities. Through these
programs, girls and young women have access to a community of adults
who support them in creating change and integrating their skills
to address issues they face in their lives and in their communities.
Through our programs, girls build their capacity to address their
individual needs for a healthy, empowered life, as well as develop
the skills to become an advocate and role model for their communities.
Additionally, we believe that Oasis For Girls is making an important
and pivotal impact in the lives of the girls and young women that
we serve by providing:
- ongoing, caring relationships with our adult staff and community,
- roles for girls to determine the activities they participate
in and
- opportunities for increasing responsibility and leadership skills
through creative expression.
We also believe that through participation in our programs, the
girls we work with are having a positive influence on their family
and the greater community through the values we strive to nurture
in all of programming: quality, ethics, compassion, diversity, participation,
leadership, and initiative.
The long-term social change that we would like to see
for girls and women in our community:
- A future in which all girls and women are educated and empowered
to make healthy choices in their lives; therefore significantly
lowering the rates of teen pregnancy, substance abuse, and incarceration.
- A future in which all women have the opportunity and ability
to be employed in careers that are meaningful to themselves and
their communities, feed their mind, bodies and spirits, and fully
provide for the lives that they envision.
- A future in which all girls and women are educated and empowered
to identify abusive situations and take active steps to seek
help and remove themselves from these environments.
- A future in which all girls and women receive the best health
care possible, regardless of their economic status.
- A future in which all girls and women have complete choice
and control of their bodies.
- A future in which all girls and women have a strong voice and
impact in our communities and the future of those communities.
- A future in which all girls and women are educated and empowered
to fully realize happy, healthy, and productive lives.
