RISE applications are available for Spring 2010! DUE DATE EXTENDED: Tuesday, January 26!

Are you a young women between the ages 14-17 living in San Francisco?

Apply now for our RISE Life Skills Education program:

RISE is a FREE life-skills education program for a diverse group of 15 young women between the ages of 14 and 17. Focusing on mental, emotional, and physical well-being, RISE fosters appreciation of personal care and positive behaviors to live healthy lives. Girls receive a $300 award for participation and successful completion of the program. Girls are expected to share what they have learned with their communities and how their new knowledge will impact their future, including what specific actions they will take to realize their visions. Specific topics include: 1) exploring different identities; 2) self esteem and body image; 3) mental health; 4) stress management; 5) eating well for better health; 6) educational options; 7) career planning and resume building; 8) sexual harassment and protecting yourself; 9) sex and safe sex practices; 10) substance abuse and harm reduction; 11) sexism, racism, homophobia and 12) social justice.

Who is RISE for?

Young women ages 14-17. African, Arab, Latina, Native, Asian and Pacific Islander, low-income, immigrant, transgender and queer women are strongly encouraged to apply. You must be committed to attending the entire ten weeks of program.
