RISE and Technology & Leadership Program Summer 2011 Applications Are Here!

The RISE Life Skills program is for young women ages 14-17 and provides a safe forum to talk about and get information on the physical, emotional, and mental health needs of young women. Our skill building workshops include: anti-oppression, self-esteem, body image, stress management, healthy relationships, safer sex, educational options, career planning, mental health, nutrition, sexual harassment, self-defense, and more! Participants earn $300 for successful completion of the program.

The Technology and Leadership Program is for young women ages 14-17 and prepares them for advanced education and job training. TLP will teach young women technology skills, job readiness, and leadership skills. As a result of this training, young women will be more successful in school, work and life. Participants earn $500 for successful completion of the program.

Applications for both programs are due Friday, May 13th at 6 pm.

Scholarship and Summer Applications Are Here!!!!

Apply now for the Future Fund Scholarship!

To promote educational equity and leadership development, Oasis began distributing the Future Fund Scholarships in 2001 to support the educational advancement of Oasis alumnae.

We are pleased to announce that thanks to generous support from PowWow (http://powwownetwork.org/), we are able to offer two scholarships to motivated young women this year. Pow.wow is a networking group for creative, dynamic and business savvy women who seek to support the success of its members by creating a supportive and positive learning environment, empowering through education and exchange of ideas, increasing the visibility of its members, and giving back to the Bay Area community of women.

Nuestra Visión: La visión de Oasis para Mujeres Jóvenes es la de cultivar generaciones de mujeres fuertes y creativas que sepan realizar su potencial, que lleven una vida saludable y que sepan impactar positivamente a sus comunidades.

Nuestra Misión: La misión de Oasis para Mujeres Jóvenes es proveer un espacio seguro donde estas jóvenes se inspiren y desarrollen su potencial de lideres creativos en bien de sus comunidades.

El Oasis para Mujeres Jóvenes ofrece una cultura en los diferentes aspectos del arte, en liderazgo y en programas de apoyo para aquellas de ingresos bajos, jóvenes inmigrantes, y de comunidades urbanas. En estos programas las jóvenes cuentan con la ayuda de un grupo de consejeros adultos que las apoyan en la creación de cambios e integración de sus habilidades, así como en los problemas que ellas afrontan en sus vidas y en sus comunidades.

Se aceptan muchachas de 10 a 20 años
Horario escolar: de lunes a viernes de 3 a 6:30 p.m.
Verano: de lunes a viernes de 1 a 6 p.m.*Hours are subject to change.

Servimos a: Las Mujeres Jóvenes que reflejan la gran diversidad del distrito SoMA y de las diferentes zonas de San Francisco.  Hay jóvenes desde los 10 a los 20 años, latinas, afro-americanas, asiáticas, árabes, isleñas del Pacífico, blancas y multirraciales. La mayoría son primera generación de americanas, aunque muchas de ellas son inmigrantes recientes. Casi todas hablan en su casa su lengua natal además del inglés. Al tratar de ser auténticas y mantener sus propias raíces culturales afrontan problemas de adaptación.
